School bus update from South Gloucestershire Council
To meet the increased demand for school transport to our school, South Glos Council have made adjustments to the 458 and 459 bus routes, and introduced an additional service from Emersons Green (457). There is no change to the 427 Frenchay route.
As a result, some students may be allocated a different bus route or bus stop. Any students affected by these changes will be contacted individually. These new arrangements will take effect after the October half term, starting Monday 3rd November.
If you do not receive direct communication from us via the school, your current bus and stop will remain unchanged. Updated route maps and timetables are available on the school website here: https://www.winterbourneacademy.org.uk/Bus-Services/
We will also be contacting students on the waiting list who have now been allocated a place.
Change Highlights:
- Pupils who have been moved to the new 457 route from Emersons Green should note that the bus now serves Emersons Way in the opposite direction so please use the stops on the opposite side for your pickup/drop off.
- Pupils who were catching the bus from the Horseshoe on Westerleigh Road will now have to catch the bus from the Horseshoe on Badminton Road (Downend High St).
- Bus passes issued in Sept will still be valid even if the route is incorrect, the bus drivers also have passenger lists so spot checks can be carried out.
**Roadworks affecting the 458 bus service from Monday 27th October**
Please note upcoming roadworks that will affect the 458 service between Monday 27th October and Sunday 30th November. A section of Bromley Heath Road (between the A4174 Ring Road and Quakers Road) will be closed to all traffic. During this period, the 458 will divert via Four Acre Road, Queensholm Crescent, Quakers Road, and Badminton Road, rejoining the A4174 Ring Road to continue its usual route to school.
Important: The bus will not serve the Wedgewood Road and Queensholm Crescent stops on Quakers Road during this time. Students who usually use these stops should instead use the stop on Queensholm Drive near the shops. The service will resume its normal route as soon as the road is reopened.
