Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3 we offer a well-balanced programme that aims to build on learning at Key Stage 2. Lessons are delivered by subject specialist teachers in subject specific classrooms. Our Key Stage 3 curriculum is underpinned by our school’s curriculum principles. It is academically ambitious and aims to provide the opportunity for students to develop and explore different subjects, grow their understanding of the world and their place in it.
Year 9 students choose their options ready to start in Year 10, for information about this process please see our Pathways page. Students get to experience their first taste of GCSE learning through beginning a GCSE in Religious Studies, which they will sit at the end of Year 10. This reflects our commitment to developing students’ wider understanding cultures and the world. It also gives each student a preparatory experience in studying and taking GCSE exams and assessment, including the need for independent revision, without the full demands of exams in all subjects. Students also have the chance to study their choice of two Design Technology subjects in more depth.
Parents have the right to withdraw their child(ren) from RE. Requests should be made in writing to the Headteacher.
