Kind Corridors

We are delighted to launch our new school-wide initiative based on student council feedback and aimed at strengthening the positive culture that makes our community such a supportive and inspiring place to learn: Kind Corridors.

This initiative encourages every student to look out for one another, share positivity in the spaces we move through every day, and make kindness a visible part of our school culture. As students move around school, they have countless opportunities to demonstrate the school values of Participation, Respect, Integrity, Determination and Excellence, and to represent both our school and wider community with pride. By choosing to be respectful, thoughtful and inclusive in our words and actions, whether in the corridors, classrooms or online, we can help our whole community feel safer, more valued and better connected.

Kind Corridors encourages students to take an active role in shaping a safe, calm and welcoming environment for everyone. This initiative highlights the importance of students being leaders, role models and upstanders, especially during busy transition times. We want every student to feel confident in contributing to a positive atmosphere: offering help to others, using respectful language, keeping spaces moving safely, and modelling the behaviours that help our entire community thrive.

We know that when students lead with kindness, they strengthen not only their own character but also the sense of belonging across our school. Support at home, through conversations about respectful behaviour and pride in representing our community, greatly reinforces the message we share at school.

Important note: If any student has concerns or witnesses behaviour that doesn’t align with our values, they should speak directly with their tutor or other trusted member of staff. Students can also report issues confidentially through our anonymous reporting system: Speak Out Safely (please note this link is available to students through their normal school account).

Useful Resources

To support you and your family as we grow Kind Corridors together, we’ve highlighted some excellent resources aimed at secondary pupils and parents/carers to explore kindness, respect and how to address and prevent bullying:

  • Anti‑Bullying Alliance (ABA) — A leading UK organisation with advice, support and resources on bullying and creating kind, respectful environments for young people and families. Their site offers information for parents/carers as well as links to themed campaigns like One Kind Word and Power for Good. You can find guidance on where to go for help and how to talk to children about bullying and kindness. https://anti-bullyingalliance.org.uk/

  • Anti‑Bullying Week resources — Each year in November, Anti‑Bullying Week raises awareness with a focus on kindness, empathy and standing up for others. Family Lives offers free downloadable anti‑bullying presentations, videos and activities suitable for young people and families to explore together. https://www.familylives.org.uk/advice/bullying/anti-bullying-week/anti-bullying-week-resources

  • Ditch the Label — A UK youth charity offering practical support, articles and toolkits on bullying, cyberbullying and digital wellbeing — with guidance that young people can read directly and share with parents. https://ditchthelabel.org/

  • Bullying UK — A charity dedicated to helping pupils and families understand different types of bullying, how to respond, and where to seek help. https://www.bullying.co.uk/

These sites are great starting points to help young people reflect on kindness, recognise unkind behaviour and know what support is available. We encourage families to explore these resources together and join us in making kindness a part of everything we do — in our corridors, classrooms, and beyond.
