Winterbourne Academy

Covid-19 Update for all Parents/Carers and Students (27/06/21)

Thank you for all your overwhelming support regarding the recent positive cases at Winterbourne and in the local community. May we gently remind you to email COVIDabsence-student@winterbourneacademy with your LFD/PCR positive results. This is received by a small team of staff who monitor the email, including during evenings and weekends, so that we can track and trace as quickly as possible.   This includes cases where students are already away from school and self-isolating as the infectious period prior to symptoms is key.

Thank you everyone who has kept us in touch with results of negative and positive LFD and PCR results, it is much appreciated and has allowed us to react quickly when cases have arisen.

May we also remind you that, if your child has been asked to self-isolate until a particular date, the receipt of a negative LFD or PCR test does not alter the period of self-isolation as the student may develop the infection after the test date. PHE are very clear that: Close contacts should continue to self-isolate for 10 full days, as they could still become infectious and pass the infection onto others.

Please note that it is now possible for close contacts to have a PCR test even where they do not have symptoms, by clicking on this link  Free PCR test or by calling 119.

Thank you for your ongoing support during this difficult time.
