FAQs

  • With combined and triple science you have to do all three science, and so cannot pick just two e.g. biology and chemistry
  • With combined science, you can do higher tier exams and so achieve top grades (7s, 8s and 9s in exams)
  • You can go on to study A-levels in science with combined science and then to university for scientific degrees -Triple science is not harder than combined science, it is just that you study a third more content for each subject, in the same time as most people study combined science
  • The majority of the triple content is covered in combined science (two thirds) and so the triple content accounts for around thirty hours of content per science
  • The exams in triple science are longer, requiring students to do 1hr 45 for six papers, compared with 1 hr 10 for six papers with combined science

If you are not sure about which option is best for your child please contact your child's science teacher to receive further guidance.
