Climate Change Strike - Friday 28th February 2020

Climate Change strike: 11:00am, Friday 28th February 2020, Central Bristol

As you may be aware, there is a climate protest/strike event planned for Friday 28th February in which Greta Thunberg is delivering a speech and for which the organisers have called on students to attend the protest rather than going to school.

As a school, we continue to be very supportive of ecological and environmental issues and can fully appreciate the reasons behind the protest. As I am sure you can appreciate, we also have a safeguarding responsibility for all of our students when they are in our care. If as parents/carers you have discussed and agreed with your son/daughter that they can attend the climate strike/protest, we need to be informed of this beforehand please. If this is the case then we need you to please complete an absence request form (link below) in the usual way so that we can be reassured of where individual students are for that time period. It will be marked as an unauthorised absence in line with our attendance policy and the DfE attendance code guidance.

Request for Absence during Term Time

Many thanks in advance for your support to ensure that we keep our students safe.
