Sports Days 12&13th July!

We are proud to announce that our Academy Sports Days will be on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th July 2018. We are excited to once again be staging such an enjoyable event. Like last year, all students will be asked to participate to win points for their Guilds, whether as participants or officials. In addition to the normal track and field events, we will be offering a few fun activities such as ‘welly wanging’, ‘egg and spoon race’ and ‘frisbee target throwing’.

Years 7 & 10 sports day will be on Thursday 12th July.

Years 8 & 9 sports day will be on Friday 13th July.

In order to make the day work safely and efficiently, there are some changes to the organisation of the learning day. There are also some pieces of health and safety advice we need to pass on to you; these must be strictly adhered to:

  • Students must come to school in the morning in the normal way and be registered with their tutor at 8.45am. Please note that this is different from last year where students arrived directly at the sports ground.
  • After registration period, they will be accompanied to the sports field by their tutor or another member of staff.
  • They should attend the academy in their PE kit and remain in it all day, even if they are not participating in an event.
  • After attending sports day during periods 1, 2, 3 and 4a, they will be accompanied back to the Academy by their tutor or another member of staff, where they will have lunch during 4b and attend period 5 in the normal way.
  • We are sorry, but no parents will be allowed to spectate due to large numbers of students that need to be accommodated and because of the need to safeguard students
  • Students must bring the appropriate sun cream and sun hat and coat in case of rain.
  • There will be an opportunity to buy ice cream and treats being sold by the Friends of WIA.
  • All students must bring water/drinks. There will only be a limited facility to re-fill.
  • Leave valuables at home
  • If for any reason you need to contact your child, you can still do this through phoning the school
  • If the weather is not going to be favourable we will postpone the event. We will notify you of this in good time

Our Sports Day promises to be an exciting event and we look forward to a stunning day celebrating sport, the Guilds, and whole Academy community.
